My thoughts are that Biden is essentially old Captain America at the conclusion of Endgame. Do I want him to hand the shield over to a younger person? Absolutely. If he doesn’t I’ll still gladly vote for him and the rest of the avengers than f*cking Thanos.

I know I’m not saying anything original but I really just wanted to tease out my MCU metaphor.

I would love to see Biden decline the nomination but the reason he ran in 2020 and is running now is that the Democrats can't unite around anyone else. Vice President Harris, at least a few governors and Mayor Pete would fare better in debating and campaigning against Trump, and at this point I'd choose any of them, but I'm not sure any can win.

A Whitmer/Shapiro ticket would be quite powerful, but really any strong combo would be ideal at this point given Biden's piss poor performance on Thurs night. Playing right into the "Sleepy Joe" (or worse) tropes.

Yikes. It’s a little scary that, arguably the world’s foremost super power, and a significant economic engine of the world (at least for technology), had these two as the only choices?

Holy hot fuck. My mom at 90 has more mental capacity and ability to move than Biden. She still gets out and mows the lawn! I only have to threaten her mildly. (Jesus I’m joking.)

I can imagine for other world leaders, or criminal masterminds who are looking for a weak U.S. to profit from - the debate must have made them all get serious chubbies.

At least Biden means well - and will work to make America work for most. Donald will fuck over women, Ukraine, immigrants and anyone else he can think of. It will be 4 years of holding your breath until the whole fiasco is over for good. Thank god the U.S. only allows 2 terms for life. At least it will be the final end for Trump and his fucked up family.

The debate could not have gone worse for everyone as far as I can see. It’s shown that the US is caught between the literal devil, and an incoherent old man who means well.

Pretty shameful night across the board. I remain stunned that these are the two candidates we have. We once put people on the moon!

I will say that, rules aside, CNN committed journalistic malpractice by not calling Trump on his lies. There was like one interjection directed at Biden and it was over a relatively small misstatement. Trump lied the entire time (post birth abortions?!) and was never called out.

Why did Democratic Party leaders and officials lie to us about Biden being a ball of fire and up to speed only for him to show his true form at the debate? I’m livid.

Why I never watch presidential debates. Has absolutely no bearing on my vote. And watching calls for Biden to step down after a bad night, while the other guy is literally being sentenced 4 days before the convention is nasty work.
